Learn to cook lasagna with a topchefs receipe!

Genuine Italian lasagna is made from longly braised tomato sauce and homemade Béchamel sauce. Watch the video and learn to cook a classic dish in a delicious way! Cinematography Mika Hirvonen.


Tomato sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 big onion
  • 400g minced meat
  • 2 cans of peeled tomatoes
  • 4 carrots
  • 2 dl tomato pyrée
  • 1 dl basil
  • 1 dl parsley
  • 1 meat stock cube
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt and pepper
Béchamel sauce
  • 1 l of heavy milk
  • 500 g grated mozzarella
  • 200 g butter
  • 1 dl flour
  • 1 pkt lasagna disc


Tomato sauce
  1. Heat up the oven to 180 °C and choose the middle level or recirculated air setting.
  2. Start by preparing the tomatosauce. Crush garlic cloves and onion  . 
  3. Cut carrots into cubes. Sweat the onion, garlics and carrots on a pan and add tomatoes and tomato pyrée. Parboil and add minced meat to the sauce. 
  4. Crush basil, parsley and meat stock cube and add to the sauce. Let the sauce boil slowly under a lid.
Béchamel sauce
  1. Melt butter in a pot and add flour, mix with a whisk for couple of minutes until the flour starts to ‘’cook’’. Add milk while mixing and heat up until in boils. Add 2/3 of the mozzarella cheese and mix until the sauce is smooth. 
  2. Add some salt and pepper, taste.
  3. It’s important to add salt in both sauces, flavorless sauces will ruin the lasagna.
Assembly of lasagna
  1. Butter casserole with canola or olive oil.
  2. Start assembling the lasagna by placing tomato sauce on the bottom, béchamel sauce on the next level and lasagna discs on to the next level. Repeat until the casserole is full, spread just béchamel sauce and grated mozzarella cheese on the last lasagna disc.
  3. Cook in the oven for 45 minutes.
  4. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.
